Could it be that they put something in the water nowadays
in the Lowlands? Some strong stuff, that makes people pick up guitars,
enabling them to write superior popsongs? I mean, the ace-bands keep
coming from this little country. Right now we've got these 4 guys from
the North of this Country who formed Simmer. They've got tons of brilliant
popsongs, they've got power, they've got harmonies, it's got style,
it's uplifting - what more do you want?
('Nothing.')
Well, sometimes you do though. Like the audience that evening in Utrecht
when these guys opened for Oasis. They wanted more from our little band
at that time.
By the way, in those days Simmer was called Slide. They had a single
out as well and good it was (SOTW on Vpro Radio, jubilant reviews, the
whole lot).
And there is more on it's way. In the summer to be specific, when Simmer
will release it's debut-album. Need we say that it will be pretty good?
('Nah, we believe you.')
OK then, more relevant at this stage probably, is the fact that the
album could be called 'Mother tongue' and that it will be out on Excelsior
Recordings, yes, that quality-label.
Later this year Simmer will go on the road with Johan, another band
that's got a lot going for them.
('It has to be the water.')
Simmer was: Theo de Jong (voc/git), Jacob Veenstra (git/voc), Pyter
Kuypers (bass/voc) and Tom de Jager (drums).
